Bus 402 update

23rd June 2017

Further information received from Kent County Council

As discussed this morning, TfL advised us very recently that due to the service 402 change they will be removing their bus stops between Knockholt Station and Badgers Mount Roundabout (inclusive). We have managed to arrange replacements and are liaising with TfL to ensure that replacement stops are installed at the same time (or as close as possible to when) the TfL stops are removed. We have asked the two contractors to liaise closely and It is looking like this work will take place on 21st July 2017.

We wanted to make the Parish Council aware in case you received enquiries on the matter. If you do have any queries, please let me know.

Many Thanks,

Bus 402 update news article

402 Bus – Proposed cessation

Dear Residents

The “consultation” on the proposal by Arriva to cease running the 402 from Tunbridge Wells beyond Dunton Green saw a large number of objections from residents and Parish Councils from the villages which will be affected. Despite these objections, Arriva will not run the 402 beyond Dunton Green after 24th July. In its place KCC have arranged with Go Coach to operate a service between the north end of Orpington High Street and Sevenoaks Bus station, including services to the Knole Academy and Trinity School.

The new service will be known as 431. The morning school services will run at similar times to the present 402, and in the afternoon there will be an additional bus an hour later going via the schools, which will also run on non-school days without the diversion via the schools.

During the rest of the day, the service will be considerably reduced with only 3 busses at 2 hourly intervals during the morning and early afternoon.

A recent email from a KCC officer said that the villages are also well served by the R5 / R10 to Orpington. That may be so for Knockholt, Halstead and Pratts Bottom, but it doesn’t help Badgers Mount, nor anyone needing to go south to Sevenoaks and beyond. We will try to get the R5 / R10 route amended to serve Badgers Mount as well as the other villages.

There is to be a public meeting to discuss the new arrangements at 7:00 pm on Thursday 22nd June in Knockholt Village Hall (Village Centre) attended by the KCC Senior Transportation Officer and the MD of Go Coach. Everyone is welcome to go along to keep up the pressure to maintain a useful service, but it will only keep going if people use it!!
