Change in Location : Saturday Freighter Service
13th February 2025

Badgers Mount Parish Council – Important Notice to Residents
Dear Residents,
As you all know, the Parish Council funds the Saturday Freighter Service, allowing residents to dispose of bulky waste without the need to travel to Dunbrik. This has been a highly valued service, and despite increasing costs in recent years, the Parish Council remains committed to continuing its provision.
However, concerns have been raised by both residents and Freighter service drivers regarding the safety risks at the current location at the Orpington Bypass and Badgers Road junction, particularly as more residents use the service.
To address these concerns, we will be trialing a new, safer location for the upcoming service on Saturday, 8th March, from 10:00 to 10:30 AM. On this date, the Freighter will be stationed at the car park of Badgers Mount Memorial Hall instead of its usual location.
As always, we ask all residents to be mindful when loading waste safely. If your waste is not collected by the Freighter, please take it back with you and do not leave it at the car park. Please wait for the Freighter to arrive and ensure your waste is placed directly onto the vehicle—it is your responsibility to make sure that the waste is properly loaded.
ITEMS NOT COLLECTED BY THE FREIGHTER SERVICE:
- Paint, chemicals, or hazardous waste
- Asbestos
- Tyres
- Gas bottles or cylinders
- Plasterboard
- Large electrical appliances (e.g., fridges, freezers, washing machines)
- DIY waste (e.g., bricks, rubble, soil)
- Commercial or business waste
- Light bulbs
- TVs and computer monitors
- Batteries
- Oil tins and filters
- Compostable garden waste
Finally, please park sensibly in the car park so that as many residents as possible can use the service efficiently. We encourage all residents to make use of the service at this new location and provide feedback to help us determine the best way forward.
Thank you for your cooperation.
